ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND INFORMATION

GEO-ENGINEERING !!!

ARE THEY NUTS ?

NOW THEY WANT TO START SPRAYING STUFF INTO THE ATMOSPHERE TO COUNTERACT THE CLIMATE CHANGES.
ONE WANTS TO SPRAY SALT WATER MIST FROM THE OCEANS UP TO "LIGHTEN" THE
CLOUDS SO THEY REFLECT MORE LIGHT UPWARDS, AS MUCH AS 10%.

ANOTHER WANTS TO SPRAY SULFURIC ACID TO PUT A "SUNSCREEN" IN THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE.
WELL THE SALT WATER IDEA, IF IT WORKS, IS NOT MUCH MORE THAN A BANDAID ON THE PROBLEM
AND NOT A SOLUTION POSSIBLY CAUSING OCEANIC PROBLEMS REDUCING ALGAE BLOOMS ETC.
THE SULFURIC ACID IDEA JUST SCARES ME.
THIS IS NOT A DIRECTION WE SHOULD EVEN BE CONSIDERING

UNTIL WE KNOW A LOT MORE ABOUT THE ATMOSPHERE.
SPRAYING ONE TON OF ACID OVER A 10 KM AREA
FOR THE FIRST TEST IS WHAT THEY ARE PROPOSING.

IF ONE TON IS THE FIRST TEST HOW MUCH THE NEXT TEST
OR HOW MUCH TO ACTUALLY USE THIS IDEA AND MAKE IT WORK ??

MILLIONS OF TONS ???
AS ONE SCIENTIST HAS SAID, THIS GEO-ENGINEERING OF THE ATMOSPHERE
SHOULD BE DONE USING COMPUTER MODELING SCENARIOS

FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO FULLY UNDERSTAND ALL
THE CONSEQUENCES OF ANY ACTIONS WE TAKE.

ONLY THEN SHOULD WE CAREFULLY PROCEED WITH THE BEST
OPTIONS DERIVED FROM THOSE COMPUTER MODELS.

NEITHER OF THOSE IDEAS ARE A FIX BUT SIMPLY A REASON TO
CONTINUE POLLUTING AT THE EVER INCREASING RATES.

GEO-ENGINEERING SHOULD BE WHAT WE ALL DO FROM THE GROUND UP.
IF WE REDUCED OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT AND

POLLUTION PRODUCTION TO THE LEVELS OF 1800 NORTH AMERICA,
THAT WOULD DO MORE FOR THE ATMOSPHERE THAN SPRAYING AN ACID UP THERE.

CARBON CREDITS

IS IT REALLY GOING TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT
OR JUST GIVE INDUSTRY A REASON TO
RAISE PRICES AND CONTINUE POLLUTING?

JUDGE FOR YOURSELF

SC JOHNSON COMPANY

http://www.scjohnson.com/environment/conserving_1.asp
MAKERS OF WINDEX, PLEDGE, DRANO, SHOUT
ANOTHER BIG COMPANY THAT IS DOING THEIR PART.
THEIR LARGE PLANT CALLED WAXDALE, IN RACINE, WISCONSIN HAS BEEN A LEADER IN
ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN FOR INDUSTRIES SINCE 2005.
THEY ARE COMING UP WITH MORE WAYS TO SAVE ENERGY AND PRODUCE MUCH OF THEIR OWN POWER.
WIND MILL FARMS AND METHANE COLLECTION FROM A GARBAGE DUMP TO RUN A WHOLE FACTORY THROUGH COGENRATION.
PERHAPS MORE LARGE COMPANIES WILL SEE THE SAVINGS AND THE GREENER LOOK AND START DESIGNING FOR THE FUTURE.

THEY ARE HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, BUT I WONDER WHAT THE LONG TERM AFFECTS

WILL BE FROM THE VERY PRODUCTS THEY ARE PRODUCING IN THEIR "GREEN FACTORY".

20,000 Gallons of Exxon Valdez Oil Still Trapped in Alaskan Beaches

It's been over 20 years since the Exxon Valdez ran into a reef and spilled nearly 11 million gallons of crude oil into Prince William Sound, but according to new research published in Nature Geoscience about 20,000 gallons remain trapped in the gravel beaches of Alaska.

Initially oil was estimated to be dispersing at a rate of about 70% per year, but this newer research shows that rate to be just 4%. Because of that high initial estimate beach remediation was stopped in 1992.
